Dining Around The Desert: Homestead, La Quinta

Located in a rambling former ranch house, Homestead takes advantage of several dining rooms and an extensive outdoor patio area at this historic setting.

Comfort food and value are featured in abundance at Homestead. Most dinner entries include soup or salad, veggies, a starch and a small dessert. A nightly blue plate special also includes a glass of wine.

We’ve enjoyed the chicken pot pie which is not what your grandma used to make. Rich and flavorful while being on the light side for this type of dish. Both the chicken and veal picatta served with linguine were excellent as well.

A number of Italian dishes on the menu may look similar to nearby Chapelli’s Restaurant, as they should. Chapelli’s management also owns and operates The Homestead.

After dinner you can toast a few s’moores around Homestead’s outdoor fire pit or visit their complimentary candy counter. Yummy! We’re told that a new lounge will be added in the coming months, and that they’ll be grilling on the patio on weekends during the season.

The Homestead is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is located at 78045 Calle Cadiz, in Old Town La Quinta. (760) 771-3331. Reservations are suggested for dinner.
